It's Time We Shift Our Attention from Data-Driven Ads to Data-Driven Wellness

I just came back from an event by ABANA, the Preeminent US Organization for Finance Professionals & Institutions with Interest in the Middle East. While I spend on average 2-3 hours every day talking about what we do at Fitnescity, I rarely get the opportunity to speak about the vision behind our work, and why we're so passionate about this vision.

1- Empowering people to learn more about their wellness

Fitnescity's mission is to empower people to learn more about their wellness. We aim to be at the forefront of personalized wellness. We partner with leading medical institutions and labs to bring innovative, easy-to-understand insights to consumers.

Fitnescity offers lab tests that enable anybody to get a deeper understanding of their wellness and receive personalized recommendations.

2- Data can help optimize someone's wellness journey

"If you can't measure it, you can't improve it."

3- Data can help predict when something is about to go wrong (forever)

Building a comprehensive and longitudinal view of someone's wellness could help predict conditions in the future.

It has been possible for many years to predict what movie you are going to watch on Netflix, or what ad you are going to click on.

"We can predict what ad you will click on, but we still can't use the same models to predict when something is about to go wrong in your body."

However, when it comes to the human body, we're still not able to do much. There's still isn't a system that could predict what will happen next based on your current data:

e.g. If you were to maintain the same lifestyle within the next three years, your risk of developing high blood pressure will increase by X. If you were to change three variables in your lifestyle today, your risk will decrease by Y within three years.

This is important, because more than 80% of some of the most common and costly health conditions in the US are actually preventable. This basically means that you can prevent them, and prevent all the complications that come with them, if you knew and did something about it.

It's never too late to get started.
